Pariiiiiiiiiis

Paris, le cite d'amor.

Since arriving in Paris yesterday afternoon i have been swooning almost constantly. Everything here is so......Parisienne. Just like i imagined, only better. Our hotel (thats right, HOTEL) is cute, comfortable, clean and has a nice view of pretty Parisian rooftops. LC and I went out to dinner at a Brasserie around the corner, she had cannelloni and I had une salade and yummy french wine. Then we went for a massive wander through the streets in awe of everything being so French! We stopped at a patisserie and had eclair au chocolate (just as good as Mulots) and te kept wandering until we thought we were back at the street of our hotel. then we realised we weren't! Here my sense of direction seems to be terrible, but luckily we weren't far off and found the right street pretty quickly.

After a lovely nights sleep LC and I went down to the corner patisserie and had coffee et croissant. Pain au raison are so good. And the coffee was the best I have had since I've been away. Then we decided to walk down in to central Paris via all the side streets. the atmosphere on the streets here is so amazing, its difficult to describe and impossible to take a photo of. french people, the smell of patisserie, sometimes the horrible smell of urine. after a while we ended up walking over a bridge to Notre Dame where a jazz band had set up and were playing memphis blues in the middle of the street.

We followed the Seine until we reached the Eiffel tower and sat on the grass for a while. LC had another pain au raison and I had a crepe. YUM! we sat in the sun for ages, it was so nice. We had somehow deluded ourselves into thinking that the european sum was different and couldn't possibly burn us. WRONG. After a while a french guy started talking to us, he was nice and just asked a few questions while eating a baguette and taking bites out of a whole camembert. Then we decided to get out of the sun, so we walked up to the Arc de Triumph, then down the Champs Elysee until we got to the Jardin near le place de la concorde.

Apart from being a little sunburnt, we had a lovely day. Now we are back at the hotel resting a weary legs from having walked all over Paris. Tomorrow the plan is to go to the Louvre if its open. ART DAY, YAY!
